Ever Wished You Had a Decent Cutting Board?

Designer Matt Adams says that he’s given a lot of thought to the problems he had with his cutting boards. Either they warped or cracked after a few years. The plastic boards scratched and gouged, so they were hard to clean. More expensive end-grain blocks solved the scratching problem with their self-healing surface, but they trapped moisture under them.

After giving a lot of thought to these various issues, he applied his engineering studies and the practical know-how he’d learned as a farmer to develop an end-grain butcher block that he reinforced inside it so he could put feet under it without causing it to sag in the middle, so that moisture doesn’t accumulate under the board.

Then he added a silicone juice groove that attached to the side of the block so the top doesn’t need a juice groove, but the counter stays clean. The silicone groove is detachable for cleaning.

He has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund its development and expects to have the board ready for commercial production and available for wholesale purchases early next year. Check out the Kickstarter page for an early look at the project. Visit www.decent.co for more information.
