illy Art Collection Launches Customizable Cups

illycaffè presents the new illy Art Collection called “it’s up to you.” Designed by Matteo Attruia, the Italian artist known for his ironic and elegant works of art, this cup collection was inspired by the way “ransom notes” are written.

illy Art CollectionAttruia is known for working in mediums including painting, photography, recycled objects, and installations, which are some of the most diverse expressions of his art.  For this illy Art Collection, the artist took the iconic illy cup designed by Matteo Thun in 1991 and created 36 combinations of different messages like “Love Me,” each one with its own meaning, but always positive. By combining the words that are written on the cup with those on its accompanying saucer, coffee lovers can personalize the coffee experience by creating a different phrase each time. Attruia’s design aims to best represent a contradiction between significance and signifier, creating an obvious “short circuit” of expression.

The illy Art Collection of Matteo Attruia is available as a single-cup format for $40.00.

illycaffè is an Italian family business, founded in Trieste in 1933 and committed to offering the greatest coffee to the world.  illy also pioneered direct sourcing, sharing know-how and paying a premium price for the best quality, based on partnerships underwritten by the principles of sustainable development. Everything ‘made in illy’ is enhanced by beauty and art, which represent founding values of the brand, starting from its logo – designed by an artist, James Rosenquist – and including the renowned illy Art Collection, comprised of more than 100 cups designed by international artists.

Gift Ideas for Coffee Lovers Include Kettles, Brewers

The average coffee lover spends more than $1,000 per year on coffee, more than on holiday gifts. This makes innovative coffee equipment a hot holiday gift idea.

Savvy coffee lovers save money while enjoying a premium brew, leaving more money for holiday gifts and festivities. Brew from fresh ground coffee or beans to avoid the added expense of pods or capsules. Drink home-brewed coffee on the go with an insulated beverage bottle and skip the long lines at the corner coffee shop.

The Capresso Pour-Over Kettle features an elegant gooseneck spout for a controlled pour and even flow rate. Swivel base, stay-cool handle, and ergonomic design for comfortable pouring. It offers optimal temperatures for pour-over or any type of tea.

The Peugeot Paris Press enhances the coffee press experience with fine grinding. A 500-milliliter borosilicate jug has a decorative stainless-steel exterior, plus two alternate tops: a coffee mill that grinds to specification right into the jug, and a cover with a built-in plunger for brewing.

The Capresso Infinity Plus Grinder offers commercial-grade grinding via solid steel burrs, with 16 grind settings for any type of brewing, from extra fine Turkish to very coarse for percolators or French press. The innovative gear-reduction motor will maximize flavor and aroma.

Saeco Xelsis

“Coffee lovers want the freedom to tailor their coffee experience to their personal tastes without having to leave home,” says Eline de Graaf, Marketing Director for Philips North America. “Philips Saeco Xelsis is carefully designed with the coffee connoisseur in mind so that they can recreate their favorite café beverages in the comfort of their own home without compromising on taste or customization.”

Philips Saeco Xelsis features a full touchscreen display that gives users the power to craft 15 types of specialty coffee drinks, ranging from lattes to macchiatos, with the swipe of a finger. Every cup is perfectly tailored based on taste preference. The unique Coffee Equalizer feature customizes the strength, volume, temperature and taste of coffee as well as the milk foam amount and volume, and even the coffee and milk brewing order. Philips Saeco Xelsis also stores up to six user profiles so that everyone’s favorite beverage can be brewed within minutes.

Patented ceramic grinders extract maximum flavor from coffee beans without overheating or burning for exquisite taste. They do not deteriorate, so coffee will be always ground like it was the first time, guaranteeing consistent performance for 20,000 cups. Latte Perfetto technology heats and froths milk to deliver an indulgent and consistent foam at the perfect temperature, from thick, frothy milk to hot, flat milk.

Maintaining and cleaning Philips Saeco Xelsis is quick and efficient with the AquaClean filter, which prevents the build-up of limescale. Replace the filter when indicated on the display for a clean that lasts for up to 5,000 cups. To clean after every cup, remove the internal chambers and valves and rinse while the HygieSteam function automatically cleans the milk system with a jet of hygienic steam after every cup made with milk, so that it’s ready for the next drink.

Philips Saeco Xelsis has a titanium finish and is available now on Philips.com. A stainless-steel model is also available exclusively at Williams Sonoma and includes a LED light on the coffee spout and the ability to save up to eight user profiles so that every user can enjoy a favorite cup of coffee on demand.
